dear frida, can you teach me your ways?

how rockin' is this chick? seriously. i'd love to hang out with her for an afternoon and have her take me shopping. then afterwards, we'd sip coffee in a cafe (the smoky kind with graffiti on the walls) and she'd tell me all about her cool swedish life. you can come along too, if you'd like?

guess who i met today...

...celia!

i flew to los angeles this morning (it's oh so sunny here - huzzah!) and this evening celia and i met up for some wine and snacks. we shared a couple of fabulous hours chatting about everything under the sun, and it was really amazing to meet a fellow blogger face to face.

celia is exactly like her blog: sweet, beautiful, stylish and down to earth. celia, thank you so much for our lovely time together. you seriously rock.

now i am off to sleep diagonally in my hotel bed. i hope you are all having a good start to the week.

night night!

holiday hair.

i am so ridiculously in love with this braided messy updo. wouldn't it be so chic for a holiday party? i may have to try it.

more barn yumminess.

it's official. i am obsessed with rustic, barn weddings. this incredible one was photographed by tec petaja and i have to say, i love love love her hair... and i'm totally stealing the muslin bag idea.

wallpaper.

in my humble opinion, this might be one of the most creative things i've ever seen. can you image how awesome this would look in an office or walk in closet? sigh. to see more, visit
deborah bowness's site here.

a sweet barn wedding.

i love how intimate and
anthropologie-esque this wedding is.

simply lovely.

these boots are made for nina.

these moccasin vintage boots from la vintage are one of a kind and already sold. isn't that just so sad? i can't remember the last time i coveted boots this much... woe is me.

my friday.

  • pumpkin bread and apple cider... for breakfast
  • new painted nails
  • hot cappuccino from my favorite cafe
  • homemade vegetable soup
  • a mason jar candle holder (and a small view of our street. i like to tell myself it looks like london. what do you think?)
  • a quick stop at the farmer's market for some organic apples. (i am going to try to make homemade applesauce tonight! thank you, simon's mom, for the idea.)
  • and finally, this 12 minute short film. (thank you, simon's brother, for sending it to me.) it's the best thing i've seen in a long time. and maybe i cried a little... check it out.

one step at a time.

aren't these stairs gorgeous? artist and professor horst glasker painted these 112 steps in wuppertal, germany to convey a different emotion or behavior associated with relationships. some examples are "to forgive", "to cuddle", "to offer resistance", and "to seduce."

don't you love it when artists take a mundane task, or common piece of architecture and make so much more exciting? some day maybe i'll go there and run up and down them...

(found via apartment therapy)

the good 'ol days.

i'm not gonna lie... some days i miss old phones. and how we used to sit still and really listen to the person on the other line.

and some days i miss looking in real encyclopedias. my mother used to love grabbing a world book to answer random questions.

and finally, some days i miss the sound of my grandfather's typewriter. maybe i've just been watching too much mad men!

what do you miss?

a day of short posts, i guess!

i can't help but share this jacket from le blog de betty.

i could never pull it off, but oooh my goodness.

and the hair obsession continues...

isn't this loose braid gorgeous? love.

audrey love.

i've been on an audrey hepburn film kick recently. the other night i had an audrey marathon complete with a glass of white wine and soft pajamas.

these are the ones i've watched so far...

and these are up next on my viewing schedule...

have you seen any audrey films? which is your favorite? (and aren't these movie posters fabulous?)

a different kind of mug shot.

as you all know, i am a coffee snob.

but the truth is, my snobbery doesn't end there. i am also a mug snob. that's right. i believe that coffee should only be sipped from design-licious receptacles.

so, imagine my excitement when i saw these amazing tea and coffee cups. quick! someone save me from myself before i buy them all!

absolutely genius mug from brookish, inspired by the pride and prejudice scene when jane gets engaged to mr. bingley. a lady's imagination is very rapid, you know!

i love traveling by train, so i did a little dance when i saw this train window mug from esther coombs. and the yellow is sublime, no?

this mug is red and has a bicycle on it. need i say more? by circa ceramics.

it's seafoam green and retro-tastic? oh my! from milk glass vintage.

now i'm curious...do you have a favorite mug that you use every day? what do you love about it?

xo,
