a moment... just for you.

this yoga pose is called legs up the wall and is an amazing way to unwind after a long day. truth be told, it's a great way to take a break from work in the middle of the day too. :)

maybe it's just me, but i tend to think clearer with my legs above my heart. this pose grounds me, forces me to (quite literally) look at things from a new perspective, and ultimately brings me back to the present moment.

if you try it, let me know what you think. :) happy tuesday!

two years.

confession: cripes! simon and i forgot our anniversary.
just... completely... forgot. our first date was over two years ago, and we just realized it yesterday.

i think it's because once we get married, we'll have a new anniversary. counting starts over when you wed, right? :)

either way, we laughed about it, and said a belated "happy anniversary!". simon, thanks for making me laugh for 730+ days straight. you're going to make the bestest husband.

have a fabulous weekend!

friends, what are you up to this weekend?

tonight i'm going to pamper simon since he's been feeling under the weather, and tomorrow we are going to hang out with my family. huzzah.

in the meantime, here's a lovely song for your weekend. enjoy!

a little of this and a little of that.

lately i am...

feeling good about: crossing things off my to-do list.
not feeling good about: how my to-do list is still mysteriously growing.

feeling good about: wedding paper goods arriving in the mail! (sneak peek coming soon.)
not feeling good about: the massive paper cut on my right index finger. owie.

feeling good about: all my exciting plans for july including daily yoga.
not feeling good about: getting up at 5:30 a.m. to practice three times a week. (what was i thinking signing up for that?)

feeling good about: all the big changes in my future.
not feeling good about: all the big changes in my future. (cripes!)

feeling good about: all the healthy smoothies i've been consuming lately.
not feeling good about: all the potato chips i've also been consuming lately.

can you relate? :) what are you feeling good, and not-so good about? i'd love to hear.

last night i practiced yin yoga while i watched the bachelorette. i realize this is an odd combination, but for me it was actually the perfect blend of entertaining and calming.

do you ever do counter intuitive things like that? :)

p.s. i have a feeling there isn't going to be reality television at kripalu! ah well. i am sure i will survive. :)

weekend moments.

<span class=
it was a rainy and cloudy weekend in the northeast, but the flowers in bloom made up for it.
<span class=
i met a fellow blogger for coffee at one of my favorite cafes, and it was oh-so lovely.

<span class=
this was my first time meeting lynette, but it felt like we were old friends. i love meeting blog readers.

<span class=
the taste of watermelon reminds me of summer. maybe when the sun comes back, we'll devour a whole one just the two of us.

<span class=
but in the meantime... what's a sunday supper without a fresh (and still warm) baguette? yum.

so tell me, how was your weekend? :) did you enjoy some sunshine?

have a relaxing weekend.

(i've been braiding my hair a lot lately, but i still have a lot to learn. it's hard to see back there!)

i'm so happy it's friday. it's been a long week...

simon and i are excited to celebrate our niece's first birthday tomorrow. we bought her this sweet little book collection by amy krouse rosenthal and can't wait to scoop her up and give her some special birthday kisses.

we are also looking forward to a quiet night at home this evening. maybe simon will watch this is it with me. (it's on netflix instant streaming now, hurray!)

well, my dears, have a fabulous weekend. enjoy a brownie... or two!

xo.

a sweet wedding idea.

the other day i heard about the following adorable, coffee-inspired alternative to a wedding guest book and swooned!

the bride and groom invite their wedding guests to write something on the inside of an individually wrapped sugar cube - a wish, a joke or a love note. then every time the newly weds have coffee or tea they can open up a sugar cube and read the message! how adorable is that?

can you tell i have weddings on the brain? :)

the best time of the day.

i stumbled on this lovely poem the other day and thought you might enjoy it as well.

cool summer nights.
windows open.
lamps burning.
fruit in the bowl.
and your head on my shoulder.
these the happiest moments in the day.

next to the early morning hours,
of course. and the time
just before lunch.
and the afternoon, and
early evening hours.
but i do love

these summer nights.
even more, i think,
than those other times.
the work finished for the day.
and no one who can reach us now.
or ever.

tossing and turning.

last night i couldn't sleep.

i tried adjusting the temperature, switching up the covers, drinking a glass of water, flipping my pillow, breathing, meditating, and last but not least, getting up and puttering around the house.

but alas, i still didn't get more than a couple hours of shut-eye.

what do you do when you can't sleep? i'd love some suggestions!
