over the weekend, simon surprised me with an early christmas present. seeing as i am the most impatient person in the world when it comes to exciting things like holiday gifts, i took this as a sign that a) he knows me all too well and b) it was going to be good.
and i was right. :)
i unwrapped a dvd of the 1952 mickey mouse christmas film that i used to watch when i was a little girl. have you guys ever seen it? it's a classic!
as we snuggled up to watch it, i felt like i was transported back in time. and yet, there i was with my husband. wow, when did i become a grown-up? nevertheless, we laughed like little kids and then fell asleep.
it was the perfect holiday "date night" and a sweet way for us to kick off our first christmas as husband and wife.
so, tell me, do you have any little, quirky holiday traditions from your childhood that you now share with your significant other?

ReplyDeleteAww! I watch Christmas Eve on Sesame Street with my husband every year. It's the one from the 80's where Big Bird ice skates!

ReplyDeletei wish i had holiday traditions when i was younger. we never did the whole christmas thing and i've always wanted a full on traditional, presents under the tree type christmas... maybe someday! :P

ReplyDeletei haven't seen that one! but my favorite christmas special that i have to watch, absolutely and without question is "a christmas carol" with alastair simms, the very old version, black and white. his emotion at the end of the movie is what kicks of the christmas season for me, it's what it's all about. so happy you had such a special night!
ReplyDeleteSteve & I have been tuning in to the 25 days of Christmas on ABC which has been fun. We haven't been able to put the tree up yet because of the move but I can't wait to put some holiday music radio station on in the car and drive around and look at lights soon.

ReplyDeleteThat is so sweet! Dave has been giving into my Christmas movie watching this year and we've snuggled up to watch Elf, Scrooged and Love, Actually. Next up is Christmas Vacation and at some point I've got to squeeze in A Christmas Story because that's my brother & I's favorite. My brother's family watches it several times throughout the year so we've got to do the same :)

ReplyDeleteI was just watching the Rudolph movie from 1962 with my 2 1/2 year old daughter and it felt so weird sharing a childhood memory with my own child but wonderful at the same time.
Oh, how sweet! I do remember that one, once I started watching it.
